Common Flowers Around Apex Mountain

Apex Mountain is between Hedley and Penticton, BC. There are two ways to get there. One going through Penticton, up Green Mountain Road following the signs up to the ski resort. The road is paved all the way up. The other is the Hedley Nickel Plate forest service road, which is gravel with many switchbacks all the way up. This area is a year round recreational area, with plenty of trails to explore. Apex Mountain Resort is located on Beaconsfield Mountain. The elevation at the summit is 2,178 m (7,146ft). In the summer, the surrounding areas can be covered with many different flowers that attract a variety of butterflies and bees.

Some of these flowers like dry sunny conditions, like the ones above. Others like the sun with a little shade and moisture, like the flowers below. You may also notice that some of these flowers are also common down on the coast. Two other plants of both areas are Red Columbine and Pearly Everlasting.
